Any ideas on fishing Jetties near Huntington Beach

I’m taking some kids fishing on the Jetties this Wednesday. Any suggestions? Thanks

I’m not a bait fisher, but I was there the first weekend of june and I saw someone catch a trout. I saw a few other people fishing, but they didn’t catch anything. I think they were using little mullet or peanut bunker, I couldn’t get a good look. If you are around the jetties, you also might as well fish the creeks that feed into the inlet. I was fly fishing on foot around there and saw several reds in the creeks. Couldn’t get them to bite though, but I’m sure if you cast a live bait on their nose they’d bite.

Last time I walked to them & fished on it I caught a lot of BSB (around 6" long) on squid. Toss it out just at the bottom of the rocks & wait for the bite, should be fun for the kids. Got a couple big sting rays on cut bait but can’t remember what I used. If you walk to the creek end of the jetty you might be able to get reds or flounder to bite in the creek or on the beach area with mud minnows or fresh cut mullet. I went last week and got three 19" reds on minnows in a creek not too far from that beach but I was on a boat. I think teh creeks you can get to from there do not have much water in them at low tide so might want to fish them in a higher tide. Good luck…

The fishing was not worth the hike. I’m not sure we will do that trip again without a boat. It was still fun, but we had everything perfect minus fish. The one giant school headed right for us with billfish knocking them out of the water turned back for deeper water.
