Any of ya using USAA for Home/Auto

Gonna be looking for better rate. Currently have Met Life and hoping for better deal.

Thanks,
NN

I’ve always heard they were great, I’m not eligible, you may also want to check Auto Owners and Liberty Mutual

certain companies prefer to write certain types of properties and certain risk categories

we have good driving records and use Liberty Mutual, they won’t write my neighbor a policy due to their driving record, they also have a high rate for my lake property because there is no fire hydrant

Auto Owners does the lake house and considers the lake a fire hydrant, that equals a low premium

different companies do things differently, I use an independent agent to ferret out these details, but found Liberty Mutual directly, they are a great company and easy to work with

I had Travelers and they were terrible, use Progressive for the boats and tried to use them for the house, the company that underwrites the home policies has bad reviews

I have been a USAA member for almost 30 years. You may find a better rate somewhere but, you will never find better customer service. About 15 years ago, I left them for a better rate…came back a year later and will never leave unless they radically change the way they treat their customers. I have my homeowners and car insurance with them as well as a credit card and my last auto loan. They consistently rank at the top of all customer service polls. The few times I have had claims (homeowners or auto), they have been awesome to deal with, never giving me any push back and always dealing with and treating me fairly. I would encourage anyone that is eligible to check them out.

I’ve had USAA auto for years, absolutely no complaints at all. They are great to work with and have the best policies/rates. I won’t ever switch.

Have had them for years, and don’t plan on leaving, I will echo what others have said…
I was not here for Hugo but I have been told by many that USAA were the first ones driving into the Chucktown hoods to visit their customers and start the process…

I’ve had USAA forever for cars, home, and back in the day, renters insurance. They don’t do commercial boat policies though.

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

USAA is the only home/auto/boat insurance I have ever had. Over 30 yrs now. I got in because my Father was military. He advised me to use USAA when I was starting out. It was sage advise. I have always had great service from them and they offer plenty of other programs: car buying, financing, college loan help, credit cards (low rates), and more.

Customer service is great like everyone else has said. Been with them for ten years and don’t plan on going anywhere else.

My retired neighbor was telling me about the their awesome relocation plan involving their realtors (I think) and mortgage services. I will have to check this out next time we move. I am not sure about the specifics but he’s used them several times relocating with the Chair Force…

Got them on both now for 23 yrs. Happy and not changing. By far the cheapest I had found anyway.

Called USAA and coming out about $400yr higher with them. Home and Auto combined.

Thanks bigtime for the input folks!!

Gotta admit, have had a problem with my right foot going back and forth from Augusta to Beaufort[:0]!

They were slightly higher on auto than what we already had, but beat our homeowners by a mile. We switched to them an have been extremely happy with service. I had a claim this past October with a water line that broke in the middle of the night. They were on point and made everything as easy as possible. I can’t say enough about how well they treated us.

I have rebuilt a ton of docks since the first hurricane- the ONLY company that covered docks under homeowners was USAA- I met with and helped the claims specialists write storm reports- all were awesome to work with.

If only they would insure Boats!

They smoke with most insurance and banking, but they do require a reasonably clean driving record for thee years to get the good auto rates. Daughter was dropped for a couple of right foot mistakes but is eligible to rejoin once the points go away. Incredible service, member for 35 years. You can’t go wrong getting their banking and homeowners and then add auto when you get old and drive in the slow lane.

I have my home and auto with USAA and have no plans of changing.

I went through them for my boat but they sub out to Progressive for boats.

Have had them about 12 years now, and I’m very happy with them.

I see everyone that has them is incredibly happy. That’s great but as a person who has had to try and deal with them for an accident by my daughter with one of their members, they are horrible. The USAA member was at fault on a simple failure to yield on a left turn and its been over 3 months and still counting. The adjuster has not returned my calls despite repeated efforts. When someone finally calls its always on the home phone so they can leave a message and not talk to anyone. Been an absolute nightmare. I am trying my best not to lawyer up, but guess its my only option, all this is over a car that’s only worth about 5000. But again, maybe as a client they are much better. For what its worth…

It may suck to be on the opposing end of an accident with them but they are great to have on your side. My concern when I pay for insurance is not how well they treat the other party, but how well they treat me. I’ll say this as well. A good insurance company would go ahead and handle your losses and subrogate the claim against the other company. I know for a fact that USAA does that as they have done it for two family members when they suffered losses by someone else at fault and their insurance companies dragged their feet.

Appears no injuries, thankfully.

Quite confusing beyond that. Your insurance should be dealing with USAA.

Anyone ticketed??
