Any of you guys fishing IOP this saturday morning?

where is the best surf fishing location to get away from the tourists?

Find a spot where you don’t see anyone maybe a good start. Right?

No ****. I’m not familiar with the area so I hoped for some useful information that you did not provide.

Well not being able to take a joke isn’t a good way to get it.

Avoid Folly close to the pier, go to the end on either side. Other than that exploring is probably your best bet.

if you want to stay on IOP, id fish the ends of the island. or fish somewhere between 730pm-9am.

thanks for the info, heart. i was told to try 53rd avenue. one of the members seem to have luck in that area.

James, I wil have to agree with btshipp a little, but you did ask about IOP. As long as you stay 6-10 blocks away from the piers you should be okay. Neither IOP or Folly have the big time shares/ mega hotels like you have up at Myrtle Beach, so there is, in general, lots of room for all. I fish IOP almost exclusively and never have issues with space. The stupid kite surfers will run on your lines at IOP, I believe it is the same idiots though each time. Happened again today. Yeah morons. Wish they were reading. Any ways, Folly is currently getting renourished, I think I read were they are south of the pier, so go north, maybe 5-7 blocks down, you should be fine. I have not been on Folly since last fall, sorry I can’t be more specific. IOP…most areas are good! Stay clear of the pier.

Good luck.

Thank you, sir!! good info.

IOP- 34(ish) block had a nice wash out last time i was at the beach. just drive down the road and when you dont see an ass load of cars at a pull off, pull in there. IOP’s daygoers are pretty relaxed to people fishing. If you’re there first they usually respect that and will stay a good distance from lines. Be prepared to talk to just about everyone that walks by about what your NOT catching though lol. Kite surfers are their own breed…

Agreed bob, 31st-41st, fished that area many times. Always nice troughs. Looks like this weekend the afternoon bite should be great.

See you on the beach…I’ll be the one catching all the fish.

We’ll first thing I would fish late afternoon if I am fishing on the weekend. Other then that durning the week days would be a little better right now… You could fish at breach inlet. But fish sully side. Look for the cake looking house there are a good set of rock right by it. Fish either side if the rocks.

thanks, bob. sounds like i should bring an extra large treble hook for the kite surfers. an accidental cast is the best excuse, right?

thanks for the info, crow. i apologize for the initial confusion of your statement. i appreciate the info and hope to see you on the beach!!

If you want check your pm

200lb PowerPro and a good drag should land a kite surfer pretty efficiently.

experience noun \ik-#712;spir–#601;n(t)s

  1. the fact or state of having been affected by or gained knowledge through direct observation or participation

  2. that thing you get just moments after you needed it.

200 lb powerpro would cut one in half! Stay away from front beach and the park area. It’s always crowded. As close to wild dunes as you can get will give you smaller crowds. Breach inlet usually sucks, avoid it. There’s much better fishing on iop than breach. 3rd and 4 th Avenue access have a good sandbar built up and there’s tons of whiting over there. Good luck
