has anyone every caught any big sharks out at sullivans and moultrie??? all weekend we went out and kayaked baits (big mullet and whiting) out to the shipping channel with only a small sharpnose and something that broke 125lb mono leader nike nothing!!! any tips, spots or luck out there??? feed back is appreciated!!
i got a 4ish foot dusky a couple months back there using stingray and missed another hit that evening behind the fort. looking at the dental work even on that 4 foot dusky id imagine it could slice 100+lb mono no problem and theres definately bigger sharks out there than that so you might want to upgrade to wire if you are after a big shark. bout all i can say is keep tryin!
This time of year I will fish the upper part of IOP. You can park at 54th and walk up the beach going up towards wild dunes and you will catch some nice sharks. Now that labor is here this weekend and most of the tourist are heading home you can have some clear beaches. The other spot that has it share of nice sharks is 12th station on sullivans. Everytime I fish that area I always have a nice run and I have pulled some nice sandsharks out of that area. When you walk down the beach and you see the rocks jetting in and out of the harbor find you a spot where the water isn’t so rough and put you out a nice blue crab and you should get you a nice bonnethead. It will take you a couple of times fishing that area before you will figure the current out. I hope that helps.
