Haven’t seen any reports in the offshore section yet. Just wondering if anyone has caught any recently around the 60 or even closer to the beach? I’m going out this Friday to give it a try.

Got a few hours in after work, no sign of any Mackerel though. Played with some sharks before heading back in at 8:00. Trying it again in the morning.

we fished hard saturday. NO kings, no spanish. Lots of cigar minnows under the outer bouys in the afternoon. Lots of boats out there too. I guess its still a little too early.
Went out to the 60 in the am and hit the bouys in the afternoon.
Picked up 3 spanish on Saturday morning. All hit spoons on a planer. Didn’t see any surface activity all day.
Saw a few studs skying this weekend in 110-115 ft of water while heading to the ledge.
mrmullen, we must’ve seen you at some point- were on the 60 all morning. smallest boat out there- a scout.
trolled for with ballyhoo and spoons, downrigger, planers and flatlines… no surface action, no knockdowns. heard there were spanish in the channel but didn’t see them on the troll home.
scoobie n dirtyo, thanks for the reports- glad someone is finding/seeing a couple of them!
how deep were you running the planer?
However deep a Sea Striker #1 goes…about 10ft I would imagine.
In my own defense, I didn’t wear my lucky Mackerel shirt on Saturday. Its so old and nasty the Kings can smell me from a good 2-3miles away and can’t resist it. If only I could bottle and sell that scent!
i always hear of people catching spanish and king in the shipping channel, but never get any pics or solid posts. Anyone actually caught a king inside the shipping chanel this year, or is that timeframe a little early yet in the season?
