Just checking to see if any dogfish were being landed yet?
Didn’t know there was a special time to catch them!
I went for a walk/jog at pier and beach Saturday morning and talked to everyone I saw fishing, the common theme was the cold front really messed up the last few days but I got some good info from pier regulars, if they weren’t lying. A few people said that last weekend, 2nd and 3rd had great fishing, catching 15 to 20 dog sharks a day and one guy said he hooked a 8-9 ft tiger shark that popped off on pier, but not sure if it was a sand tiger or tiger, I forgot to ask. I did see that at the second set of benches, in front of the first-third seat there was a nice gully/hole which looked like it would be good at high tide, but the sharks where caught off the end toward the hotel side of the pier, and I was told that’s the spot to fish for them when they come by because they school around the end of the artificial reef, and fresh mullet chunks was #1 producer. Usually after a front has passed the fishing picks back up, I would of tried today but the wind at the beach was blowing so hard I couldn’t breath when jogging into it, I jogged a quarter mile and it felt like I sprinted a half mile. There was a ton of people out there and most were bundled up like they where in Minnesota, a few people fishing but I didn’t make it over to them because my dogs and the wind. Hope this helps some.
This is the best “Dog Fisherman” that I know.
Absolutely does help! I fished last year for them and there were days when you couldn’t keep them off your line and would catch 15-20 in a day. Thank you very much for the report.
