I’ll be heading to Fripp next month for my third time in three years. I’m after big stuff and have had great luck there, particularly at the Skull Creek inlet; caught 5’ sharks and one Tarpon both with cut mullet on the bottom. It seems the mullet run in Sept gets very thick there and is a great time to be fishing the surf. I know Fripp doesn’t get much mention here, but I was just trolling to see if anyone has fished there and can talk about their experiences fishing on the island.
I troll these boards for Fripp information as well, but it is scarce. I don’t know if it is simply because there are fewer people fishing that area, or if people are more protective and secretive about the area.
My best surf fishing luck has been at the Fripp Inlet end of the island, but I will keep trying Skull Creek Inlet too. Skull Creek is a shorter walk anyway.
Keep it Awesome!!!
Yeah I think because it’s a private island where you have to rent a house to even access it is a reason why it doesn’t get much fishing traffic. I concur that it has some great surf action if you’re after big stuff. I haven’t tried the Fripp inlet because, like you said, it’s a longer walk/drive. Thanks for the info.
When are you headed down and are you taking a boat?
