Anyone trying it out this weekend?

I finally got some time off and was thinking about getting some sand on my feet. I know the water is still a little cold but there has got to be something out there willing to eat?

Was out today from about 930am to 1230. I caught a shark and some fish idk what it is. Was out last sunday and caught some pretty big whiting on fishbites with sabiki rig.

Lunker good to see you posting. I have to sit this weekend out. I may be able to sneak out one day during the week. Surf wise I have been out 4 times thus far. One good trip for reds plus 1 blue, 2 slow days with a couple whiting and little sharks and I fell flat on my face and pulled the goose egg this past Saturday:face_with_head_bandage: Tough going right now but it should pick up some in the next couple of weeks. PM heading your way.

Stevo,
That spot looks familiar? Did you try the area I suggested for sheeps? Any luck?

this comes up every winter, that’s a hake, probably the Southern Urophycis floridana

I’m ready for some whiting, may try tomorrow from Morris… looks like probably right across the way from where you were!

Hakefish, hate the things

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

Killer r. No i didnt try that spot. I actually gave up on sheepshead and winter fishing in general. I waisted a ton of money and no fish.

Never caught a Hake before. Thanks for that ID didn’t know what that was:smiley: Did anyone get out and give it a try this weekend ???

Got out to Folly. Fished high incoming to outgoing. Small puffer to show for it . I really didn’t expect much. It was nice to knock the dust off and get my feet wet.
