Anything biting out of the surf this time of year?

I’ve seen a lot of recent pics of sharks and sting rays.

Was just wondering if anything else is biting. And if so, best bait for this time of year.

Thanks!

Think most everything is biting about now. Best bait, fresh cut shrimp.

I like using finger mullet most days. Shrimp is great during the summer months as it reduces shark hook ups when the baby black tips and sharp noses come swarming. Fish eat whatever when they get hungry haha.

Quick question…Just moved to Charleston a few months ago, and just getting out a few times. Been fishing mostly Folly Beach. Curious as too…Generally what is the best tide to fish? Incoming, or outgoing? (Sorry if a stupid question). Also, how are you guys hooking up to your drop rigs? Do you hook the hook, directly onto the swivel off of the two “places” on the drop rig? I have been hooking up prepackaged hooks with the leader on it…and they keep getting dangled up everytime I cast out.

Wouldnt say one tide is better than another, usually 2-3 hours before/after high or low are most productive. I like a double drop rig you buy at tackle shops/walmart etc with a 3-4 oz bank sinker small to medium size hooks. I live on Folly during the summer, maybe fish some time.

Look for pre rigged pompano / spot / kingfish / whiteing / porgy rigs. I listed all the names I have seen them packaged as and they all seem to work well on Folly. They are double rigs and they have the hooks tied onto the rig so you don’t have to use the swivel type to add hooks or line with hooks. they sell them at Walmart but the best ones I have seen are from dicks sporting goods or Haddrels. I do well with a 2 ounce weight and only more if the surf is heavy. Feel free to pm me to go surf fishing as I always need an excuse to go fishing!!
