Are the fish active on the South side?

Headed to Edisto this weekend for the first time in months - are any fish biting right now on the South side of the island? Just wondering if I should take the boat (stupid question) or try surf fishing.

Specifically trout or redfish, but happy to catch anything right now. Bait choices - can shrimp be found or should I consider artificial?

Any help would be appreciated!

I vote that you bring the boat and trout rods get some grubs and 1/8 oz.jig heads and target trout drops or fish same area you see others catching trout because everyone catching trout.

Todays report from the south side, 5 redfish 2 @ 26" 3 @17-19", around 15 trout 12-16". Redfish hit live shrimp and mud minnows. Trout hit grubs on 1/8oz jig. Shrimp are hard to find and the trout seem to prefer artificials right now. Gulp shrimp will probably work on the redfish but I have not tried them. Cut bait or frozen shrimp should also work. The weather has been great so bring your boat.

Caught bass and trout last Friday on Gulp shrimp fished under a cork. Did’t seem to want it on the bottom. As long as the weather stays good, should continue to bite.

Great ■■■■■■■■; thanks for all of the help!

With the warm, stable weather, fishing will be as good as it gets in the S. Edisto as long as the wind won’t dirty the area in which you are fishing. Trout and reds are on fire in the sound.
