ashley river duck hunting

Is there decent hunting on the Ashley river ? first duck season in Charleston for me looking for pointers. thanks in advance

I hear people do really well around the Citadel and the convergence of the Wapoo Cut and the Ashley.

Thanks el a minnow im going to scout a few spots up near the plantations this weekend might have to scout that area as well

lord have mercy…

I also heard the Coast Toasties like you to use their dock as a blind. You get some good cover between the pilings.

He said he wasn’t from here, and first season, might cut him a little slack. That’s dangerous, considering some people rely on what they are told on here.

Please don’t rely on hunting info you’ve read on an internet forum, ever. And when it comes to duck hunting, no one that knows anything worth knowing is going to tell it to you or any other cyber scouter. Get out there and put in the work.

All kidding aside, We used to tear the ducks up on the Ashley, but I haven’t hunted it in years. I would imagine it has become a little too populated towards the plantations for my tastes, but I hear gunshots still to this day up near the train tressel during duck season. Who knows, you might find some decent ducks up river… Just make sure it’s still legal to hunt it. Whatever you do, don’t follow the advise of El Dumbazz…

spun if you hunt where he told you i will guarantee you will be going to jail and your gear impounded

i havent seen anything worth hunting in the Ashley in a few years… other than gators

Most of the gardens are in Charleston County

Anyone who comes here to cyber scout a duck blind and is stupid enough to hunt within Charleston city limits deserves to have their gun taken from him. For christs sakes I suggested tying up and hunting from the Coast Guard station.

i got the info i needed. thanks to who didnt offer me useless input.

Don’t listen to these rubberheads. Go post your question on SCDucks. They are much more helpful on that site…

I saw a nice doe swimming in the cooper by Seabreeze Marina. I thought it was a rat since all I could see was the head. Didn’t bring enough ice in the cooler so I didn’t get the gaff.

I’d be careful on SCDUCKS with questions like that. It’ll make El a minnow look like a choir boy. Just read as much as you can, look on maps for spots that you’d think will hold some ducks and then go scout in person. Good luck, and please wait for them to start coming into your spread before pulling the trigger.
