Auburn in BCSNCG

Dang sirspear, you sound like a bitter juvenile. You say Auburn ‘slunk’ their way in the most unimpressive way imaginable and had two miracle wins. Man, get the corncob out of your bu t t! Admittedly the defense needs work but Auburn beat good teams this year, mostly with their offense. AU played as many top 25 teams as other teams, maybe more. And with the exception of LSU, beat them.

Yes Georgia could be considered a ‘miracle’ win. However, AU out played GA for three quarters then luck favored AU that night in the fourth quarter. It happens. there isn’t a team out there who hasn’t tried a long desperation pass, many of them succeed.

But Bama? No miracles, we beat them out right. It wasn’t a thrashing, it was a good, close, slugfest of a game but in the end we out played them. The game winning play was NOT a miracle. It was earned by good blocking and fast running.

So, quit with the poor sport attitude because your team (whichever it is) didn’t win the championship or whatever game is up your bu t t. Are you upset because Carolina couldn’t ‘slunk’ in the back door to the SEC Champ game? Or are you pissed because Clemson got beat by Carolina?

Just how old are you anyway? I’d like to know whether I am addressing a child or not. I think I am, at least on a maturity level.

You are right it happens all the time.
Come on man, I don’t really have a dog in the fight but be real about your argument. I think it has only happened 3 time in history of big boy football.

Bama had 100 more yards than AU.
AU won the game and they deserved it. Bama played 59 min and 59 seconds. AU played 60 min.

I used the word “Clemturd” and got nothing, nada…Gotta sharpen my hooks!

Didn’t you say Clemson would beat FSU by 3 scores? I hope your prediction for the NC turns out the same as it did for Clemson

Might have said that, don’t remember. Look back and find it for me. FSU is a much more complete team, more physical and just as explosive. I hope AU wins since my wife is an AU grad. I got no love for FSU, just know a (**() good football team when I see one.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

But what (**() good football team have they played???

WTF does it matter, they’re No.1. A consensus No.1. They’ve trounced every team on the schedule, that’s all they can do. Your trying to justify it to fit a personal formula of who the best is doesn’t matter. FSU will more than likely be the BCS champs this year. The SEC gets an appearance but loses its last shot at the title.

I thought the SEC fan rules state that the SEC Champion IS the de facto national champion. So why all the sour grapes about the SEC Champ going to the NC?

Who’s Ready for a Sleigh Ride? www.KayakFishSC.com

SEC haters don’t want the SEC to even have a chance to be in the NC game.

Salty. My point is that to be a (() good football team shouldn’t you play and beat a (() good football team.
If FSU plays in the big east and wins, does that still make then a (**() good football team.

I would like to see a good game. I am not an AU fan…at all. But that team has played (**() good teams and won.

I think OSU and FSU are very similar. Both got there with weak schedules, although OSU started there with the preseason polls.

“Last shot”

hmmm this whole thread reads like a lot of ACC hate to me. Will be a good chuckle when FSU whips the chit outta AU

Who’s Ready for a Sleigh Ride? www.KayakFishSC.com

FSU is undefeated, the only undefeated team in the country. They beat up a (() good Clemson team, a (() good Duke team, a good at the time Miami team and a lot of decent teams, plus some crap teams. AU has beaten Mizzou and Bama plus a last second miracle for a severely depleted UGA team. AU lost to a decent to average LSU team. Color it or see it anyway you want but FSU has won the right to play for a championship. By the same token, so has AU. It’ll be settled on the field in 5 weeks.

(**() good Clemson. That made me laugh out loud

It is funny that Duke is (**() good team. and LSU is a decent to average team(although higher ranked). Duke won the coastal division, that has ZERO ranked teams.

Hate away. FSU has coat tails for the ACC Co-champs

I do feel that FSU has earned a spot in the NC game even though they did not have a very tough road to get there. I do not feel that Duke is a (() team (unless (() means exceedingly average. Especially if you consider LSU a decent to average team. LSU would beat Duke handily, average or not.

Strength of schedule ratings for some select teams:

FSU - 64
Duke - 77
LSU - 16
AU - 18
USC - 14
Clemson - 55

Infer what you will.

“Apathy is the Glove in Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.

No way that it right. No way FSU is only 64, They played the mighty Clemson for crying out loud.

Fish, you’re trying to hard to be a dick, let it come naturally.

Not trying to be a dick. Just pointing out how asinine your comment is.
Clemson is a (() good team. Duke is a (() good team. But LSU… they are just decent.

Is SC a (**() good team? They lost to UGA and a horrible UT team but beat the SECE champs and a no.3 Clemson? Does a loss to a ****ty team count more than one to a good team? Out of 120 D1 schools does a 10-2 or 9-3 record make you average or crappy? The only one being ass-anine in the entire list of these topics is you. A team can be good and not be a member of the SEC, just like a team can suck and play in the SEC.

You don’t want to give FSU credit for what they’ve done, that’s your prerogative. Lots of (**() good teams in the top 25 capable of beating anyone on a given Saturday. Thinking otherwise is just stupid and shows how little some follow the nuances of the game.

Whoa now, FSU is unquestionably a good team. They deserve a shot at the national title as it’s currently decided. That doesn’t change the fact that their schedule is a joke. Calling Duke a good team and Miami “good at the time” – come one, don’t make excuses, just say it: They played ONE good team, but they crushed that team and all the other so-so teams they played. It would be nice if we had a playoff and it wasn’t possible to reach the NC by playing one real team, but that’s just how it is. I will say that if Boise State played the exact same schedule as FSU this year and had the same results, a lot more people on this board would call them pretenders and think they shouldn’t be in the NC.

So while I think Salty is overstating the quality of FSU’s opponents a bit, I have to agree that FSU has solidly cemented a spot.

As for number 2, this is why we need a playoff. I’m surprised Michigan State isn’t getting any credit. They looked quite good against OSU on the big stage. They only have one close away loss to a ND team in a game that was widely criticized as atrociously officiated at the expense of Michigan State. Then you have Alabama with a wild loss on the road, Auburn that has looked shaky but posted an 11-1 record, Ohio State, and high offense no defense Baylor. It’d be nice if this was settled on the field and not the ballot box.

Isn’t it great that we won’t have to worry about this debate after this year. Unless you pull for 5-8. No one will ever be fully satisfied but this year it has worked out. The teams playing in the NCG have EARNED a right to be there. You could make an argument for MSU but AU clearly has the edge on SOS and overall competition.
