Back to Basics!

After a few dismal bottom trips over the past month, I made a conscious decision to give what has worked in the past a try. #1 find live bait. A few drifts over the wrecks at Y-73 produced a well full of live baits. #2 Don’t overlook anything on the bottom! We ran to about 4 spots in 100’and I did not like what I saw on the scope. A few more moves, and I liked the look, and we decided to anchor up. #3 keep it simple, One rod was a Carolina rig, and the other was a 2 hook, chicken rig. #4 have patience! After numerous BSB’s, the Reds showed up!

So this is how it went until early afternoon. Mike got a 20+ ARS, Jeff got Scamps and an ARS as well. I did have a very unusual occurrence. I caught a large ARS on a drift rig cigar minnow! Good job on the dive Zach! I saw some pretty groupers on that stringer. Mr King and company were also out there.

Thanks again Mike! You are a true gentleman, and I had a blast!

Good job. Looks like we should have stayed with Zach instead of heading off to do our own thing.

Am I missing something here as far as the ARS goes??? Are they not closed?? Jesus we threw back a hoss Saturday. Vented his ass and he went on his way!!

These rules are so ■■■■ complicated they faked me out. ■■■■■ has to be approved by some other entity and won’t go into effect till later on. These guys make it where you don’t know whether you are coming or going. On a side note my nephew Glorious Pinfish caught Scampzilla, about 15 lbs. He’ll post a pic later.■■■■ nice fish Sells.

Nice catch Sells…amazing what happens when you go back to basics.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Those are some really nice fish as usual Sells.

are their aj’s in that box of fish? In the center of the picture between the 2 ARS looks like one.

Next time a keeper comes to the boat he’s coming home with me. Heard the hype, but gotta try it for myself and see if I’m really letting go a trash fish or a table fare worth keeping…

fresh they are fine, also anytime some one on board has a fish fry coming up we generally keep one…the first time watching someone clean one and you see the worms,it bothered me but after frying it up i forgot about that…

we have brought back a few that had worms all the way thru…no good meat at all:dizzy_face:

I keep all legal AJ’s. I have an Asian friend that loves them.

*Remember - Month of April, ONE AJ per vessel per trip, 28 inches fork length.
