I’m heading to Port Royal this Friday for a friends bachelor party. We plan on fishing Fri/Sat and prolly hit some of the near shore reefs. Any report on bait, Betsy Ross, Eagles Nest? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Plenty of bait( menhaden) in Calibogue Sound and off beach. I assume there is also bait in normal spots in Port Royal Sound ( off of the north end of HHI, mouth of Skull Creek, etc.) Lots of action at Ross and Tire Reef( cobia, small kings, spadefish, lots of sharks( big and small), amberjacks, etc. . I have not heard many reports from Eagles Nest but it should be holding fish also. I have not been there in a while since it is somewhat inconsistent for me . Good luck and post a report of what you found ( or did not find!)

You better get out there early if you want to get a spot at the Betsy Ross. There were over 30 boats there today. What a zoo. We didn’t even slow down. Just kept going out to the needles where we did OK until the rain forced us back in. The same fleet was still sitting there yack’n on the radio about all the short cobia being caught. IMO the offshore cobia are going the same way that the inshore ones have.

I was hoping the BR wouldn’t be as bad on Friday but I guess I’m wrong. Maybe we will just try the Tire or EN. I hate trying to fish in a crowd! lol
I am hoping the weather will hold off and be good this weekend. I have my college buddies coming in town this weekend and wanted to take them out to either the tire or the Ross. If the weather sucks maybe we will just stay inshore and hit the creeks!
yea I been checking the weather twice daily… and it is usually different both times! don’t really wanna jinx it so I will be quiet and carry a rain suit! haha!
