Bait near Daufuskie area ??

I’m a vacationer in Sea Pines, so I don’t have a lot of time to find my own bait holes, where are some generic areas I can find some bait, I have a 6 and 4 year old wanting to go fishing next week. Not asking for anyone’s honey hole. Thanks

You will be able to find pogies pretty easily in Calibouge right now. Try looking between Harbour Town and South Beach. But depending on tide you may need to head up towards Skull Creek or head out off the beach. I was out both days this weekend and they are very easy to find on both sides of the island. Good luck I hope you put the kids on some fish. Feel free to PM if you need any other help, I have the same ages at my house

We were on Daufuskie two weeks ago for a week and they were flipping out front of Bloody Point beach all day/every day. We could see hoards of them flipping very close to the beach but birds were diving all over the transition from Calibouge to ocean. Saw several big something’s crash them a few times throughout the week. Some days were calm enough to probably pull the dang boat right up on the beach, so push in close and look around.

Tons of stingray and blue crab all over that area too. We threw a net a couple of times here/there and came up with several crabs on blind throws.

Pelicans will show you the way! Not small birds.the menhaden were thick on the outside just off south beach this past friday. Two casts and the bait well was filled. They were not at bloody point or along dafuski where we looked first. SW wind on a low tide. Look for the pelicans and you will find bait. During the day they were also all over the may river. They really are everywhere right now but if you are looking early in the morning, look for pelicans. Also saw a king jump 20 ft out the water in calibogue so slow trolling some menhaden not very far out should get you hooked up.

Thanks for the help, I followed the pelicans a few weeks ago in front of the sea pines beach but they were few and far between. I’ll try the Daufuskie side this time

I found them this past weekend off the north end of Daufuski at Haig’s Point. 7-10’ of water.
