bait question

heres something im wondering a bit. i tried it witout success before, but when targeting bonnetheads has anyone ever tried cutting a crab in half rather than popping the top shell off then breaking it in half? top shell on the pinfish had a MUCH harder time getting to it than the usual picked clean in 5 minutes tops with the normal way to fish blue crab and it also stayed on the hook better during bad casts. seeing as bonnetheads eat live blue crab with shells on naturally i dont see why this wouldnt work and i have a few legal by half an inch crabs in the freezer to try it with…any thoughts?

I’d say thats a great idea. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
