-2 Sailcats
-2 Rays 80-100pds
-1 40’ Red
-3 Atlantic Sharpnose small
-9 break offs due to tired Power Pro-my bad-should have had the reels re-spooled
-2 rain and wind squalls-one featured 40-50
knot winds-horizontal rain
Would have been a banner day had I replaced the braid.
Three rods went off at the same time while I was checking the boat vs tide. My friend on the shore got one Red-the others broke off.
excuse my ignorance, but what is a sail cat? also a 40 foot red? wow man show me a pic of that
Here is a link to some catfish pix-they have many names.
If you ever catch one, watch out for the spines-they will hurt you.
Its a protected species here in SC.

Only explanation I have for the 40’ Red is that my brain is still addled from the artillery
barrage thunder we experienced on the 8th:). Nope it’s just a typo for "s.

The only thing that can cut through White Braid is Valyrian steel.

…or Drogon’s teeth. Possibly Rhaegal, maybe Viserion, not likely though they are VERY rare. Sounds like a great fishing day!

Too bad it’s a protected species here in SC. Excellent table fare.

I caught one of those cats a few weeks back. A little surprised. Looks like Sternline is ready for Fall:smiley:Glad your spot is looking good. I like to fish a barrier island as well, my spot got flattened out by the hurricane last year and has been pretty slow. Tear them up Sternline and get you some fresh braid. That would have been some serious summer fishing. Take care Sir.
Thanks, RBR, will do!
Already replaced the braid with the same Power Pro-50pd test-there are some
big critters lurking in the surf line!
The PP does a good job for a couple of years; but frays
pretty quickly from all the contact with the bottom.
Got your comments on White Braid too late-will try it next re-spool.
PM me if you would like to compare spots; I’ll bet we use the same barrier beach?
