I hope they do back out, I hate these warehouses, it kills the competition.

I mentioned this on another post but will say again.

Southern Drawl and Boat & Dock will get my $$ and have:stuck_out_tongue:. This won’t change where I get my stuff. Can’t say enough on the service beyond the purchase that I have gotten from these folks.

Before I moved I was having pretty good success at Broadway tackle. He had a small but effective selection of saltwater stuff and did a good repair job on a few of my heavier rods.

They are actually starting the construction of both here in Bristol as well and both will open next year. I find it odd that they would both locate new stores in the same mid size towns, although ours was due to competition between VA and TN for tax dollars as we set on the state line. They are putting one in VA and the other in TN. Lots of tax payers dollars go into luring these stores to a city. If you live there, you paid for them to come. Any profit off the merchandise is icing on the cake. We are blessed to have good tackle, outdoor, and gun shops in our area and we really didn’t “need” these stores. But we the people paid for them to come here in hopes of large numbers of out-of-state travelers stopping off the interstate and spending their money in our state. Our politicians are willing to sacrifice the guys who started their small business the “old fashioned” way in exchange for the developers campaign contribution. That’s how it happened here and I’d be willing to bet that’s how it happened there as well…

Jon,

You are spot on with what you have said as the competition for these stores is a big deal for tax revenue. Imagine that. Can share more on this type of thing later.

On another note, I hope you can get down this fall and the weather works so we can get together and catch some inshore in your ride and you get offshore with me in mine.

Keep in touch and I hope your Dad is doing well.

NN,

Looking at a 5 day trip with the wife the 3rd week of Sept or the first weekend of Oct. And a second trip with the guys on the last week of Oct/first weekend of Nov.

I’ve not set anything in stone yet, but that’s what I’m working toward. Will you be around? If so, we need to hook up…

Just let me know when you get a firm timeframe. I got some vacation time to take so hope it works out.
