Beach at Bay Point

Relatives coming into town next weekend. I thought we could go out to Threnchards Inlet for fishing. We love to pull our boats up to a beach after a morning of fishing.

I heard there is boater’s beach at Bay Point. Is it good spot for family beach for an afternoon? What is the best approach? Threnchards or come down the Broad? Anything to watch out for?

Thanks!

If you are fishing out of Trenchards Inlet, best bet by far is to hit beach on backside of Bull point, This is the island on the north entrance of Inlet. There is a nice protected beach to anchor on the backside and beach is very nice. Just watch the tide when you anchor or you may have a very long beach trip.

Trying to get to the beach on Bay Point would be very tricky. You need to anchor on south end of Bay Point, coming up Port Royal Sound, Both are great beaches, but Bull would be much easier since you are already on that side.

Thanks! We have enjoyed that beach at Bull Point, but want new place to go.

So head down PRS, where is the best beach? Will I see boats already there? Travel past “R24” then head north(left) to Beach?

Yes, turn left at bouy 24. Anchor on sound side of isand. Should be some other boats there. Not as proteced anchoring spot as Bull Point. Beach is great. There was a nice bar a few years ago offshore of Bay Point but it washed away. Have fun.
