I’ll probably ruffle some feathers… but. I honestly think that only licensed drivers should be allowed on our roads. Keep the bicyclers, carters, four wheelers, etc. off of the roads. Some of these, especially bicyclers, are on the roads before daylight, without even reflectors on the bikes. Seems like there should be better laws keeping them off of the roads atleast until after sunrise and not after sunset. They should also be ticketed when not obeying stop signs, etc.
your utopia already exists… Kiawah!
i am sure they would love to have you, they have all sorts of restrictions on bicycles, golf carts, mopeds, motorcycles, no sex after 12, etc.
Kiawah…it sounded real good until I read that last part!!
Ok - I’m a cyclist. Ride the road quit often, always obeying the law. I have been run off the road, cut off and nearly run over by auto drivers more than I care to recall. Some are texting, some appear to be intentional and others just oblivious to my presence. I have an extremely bright flashing light on the back on my bike that can’t be missed - unless you are obscured by your smartphone. I know not all cyclist take care in obeying the laws, but don’t label all cyclist as a danger on the road. That would be like saying all drivers are as dangerous as those driving under the influence. No offense taken as life is too short to worry about trivial things, however, there are good cyclist out there just trying to enjoy God’s Creation on 2 wheels.
Two wheels?,I don’t even want a boat tra. with two wheels
Pluffdaddy, No offense meant to you or anyone who obeys the laws, cyclists or others. I just think for safety’s sake, a lot of youngsters who don’t know the laws shouldn’t be out on the roads, unsupervised, especially after dark. I’m on the roads almost every day in a fairly large town and see vehicle drivers who most likely shouldn’t be on the roads. Mix in a few cyclists who don’t know the laws and I think the chances of an accident are multiplied. I believe, for safety reasons only, that there should be some type of driver certification or training required before anyone is allowed on our heavily traveled main roads. Either that or create cycling lanes like some other states already have.
One reason I feel so strongly about this is that a good friend lost a child, while cycling, to a hit and run driver. The child, a teenager, was obeying the traffic laws at the time. As far as I know, the driver of the vehicle that hit the child was never caught. In any accident with a car or truck the cyclist will be the one who gets hurt. Stay safe.

Absolutely no offense taken. I knew where you were coming from and I wasn't on a rank. Just sharing the perspective of a law abiding cyclist. I'm actually in the market for my fist motorcycle and am seriously apprehensive because of crazies - 2 and 4 wheels.
