Beached (again)

I would love to hear the story. I’ve done plenty of stuff while boating that would get me ridiculed on here, and I’m sure 100% of the people doing the bashing have done things that they would rather not admit as well.

If it was an accident (and if people could understand that mistakes happen), I think that it may benefit everyone here if the story gets told in the public domain.

Obviously that’s the captain’s choice, but I think that it may benefit those who are new to boating as well as serve as a reminder to those who consider themselves veteran boaters. I’m sure that the lessons learned from the story will apply to other situations as well.

A full explanation may come later. There may be legal issues that prevent a public discussion at this time. I can’t speak for the Captain, just my opinion.

If they were running on GPS then I can tell you that the inshore end of crab bank in my garmin doesn’t at all come close to reality. The channel you have to run is, for a short ways, on land and then the part that shows is open water is infact beach. They may have gone with the chart plotter instead of depth finder and previous experience. Speed didn’t seem to help either.
