Beaufort to Savannah

Need some advice on this trip. Headed down to Lady’s Island Friday for a weekend trip with some friends. Saturday morning we are wanting to get up and make the day trip to Savannah, stay a few hours, and head back to the Beaufort area. All the boating I’ve done on the ICW and offshore has been from Georgetown to Edisto. Will be in a 26ft center console and have all the electronics needed just wanted any advice or tips from the people who have done it before. Easiest parking in Savannah, and best route or things to watch out for. Thanks as always for the advice guys.

Correction** Staying in Lands End, not Lady’s Island if that matters.

It’s an easy trip, about an hour and a half, inshore most of the way and the roughest part is Port Royal Sound on a bad day, which will be no problem in your boat. While in the Savannah River keep an eye out for flotsam - I have seen railroad ties, trees and other hazards floating down. If you plan to dock on Bay Street take some sizable fenders since there can be some pretty serious wakes. If the Bay Street docks are full you can dock at the Hutchinson Island hotel marina and take a water taxi over to town.

Also consider Freeport Marina on Daufuskie on the way back - good food, live music and Marguerita blenders.
