been having some good luck on DI pier

The last few days I’ve caught some nice trout on the Daniel Island pier. basic Carolina rig with mud minnow on bottom. also caught a few blue fish, flounder, whiting. I always cast off 10-12 feet from the pier the side depends on the tide of course. anyways just lettin you guys know they are out there and ready to be caught.

Nice trout, belowabove.

Congrats on the trout, is there a fee for that pier?

I think I’m trying their tomorrow, is it free?

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

Where about is the pier located on DI? I haven’t heard of fishing there before but would like to try it sometime. Is it located on the Wando?

Yes Louie it’s on the Wando . It’s basically right across from the port .

If your going down 526 headed toward Mt. Pleasant get off at the Daniel Island exit and go all the way down to the right light . Go straight at the red light and just follow the road back to the pier . There is also a nice walking path you can follow into the woods that brings you out to another spot to fish from land . Pretty good action over there . I fished there the other day didn’t feel like fighting the wind in the boat , caught a nice 17" trout the other day on a 4" pin fish as well as a little dink trout , eel and my buddy caught a nice flounder and a couple trout all on mud minnows .

I’ve fished this area from a boat without realizeing. That land spot sure produces!

Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in pfgs and buffs.

Thanks for the directions. We checked it out on Sunday and it looks like an awesome place. Due to the weather, there were only a few folks out on the pier fishing but it is a beautiful place. I plan to try it during the week the next good weather day we have. I’ve seen it from the water many times but have never checked it out on land and I was really impressed. We have fished in that area from the boat before and have done pretty well. My wife and I walked a good bit of the trail going towards the bridge and truly enjoyed the view of the Wando from there. The old oak trees lining the shore are beautiful…too bad many of them are falling into the river.

Was that Memorial Day you were at the trail spot? My wife and I headed out to that spot bc of the weather and wind but I always walk on the dock first to see if someone is there bc there isnt enough space for more than one party there so I guess we saw yall there and just posted up on the dock. Ended up getting a nice flounder and trout within 5 minutes so thanks lol.
