If you want the winning edge you really need a yeti a buff and huk gear. When the fish see the logos they want it. Fish are very cliquey with the need to fit in. Its every fishes dream to stare down a pair of costas, see a buff, huk shirt and the inside of a yeti. I like when you see someone in high priced fishing gear and they got a cheap combo. $400 fishing outfit check, 40 dollar combo check skills to catch fish x. Buffs do have a place, but most are over marketed crap like lots of fishing gear.

You seem bitter again. You want me to make some calls and see if I can get you sponsored? Well, more of a 5% off coupon code at checkout. Let me know.

Bingo.

Man, I was found out…yup I am a dermatologist!! Nagh…just a school teacher.

Well…have read this thoroughly, and really sounds like something worth looking into. Seen a lot of friends get “cut” and not a fan.

I have spent 40 years on the water, and I really hate gnats, bug spray, and sun screen, and even more all of them together. If this is the solution to that, I will buy a 100 in every shape color and size!!! LOL

Thanks for all the responses, a good, and enlightening read.

Rock & Rye cures bitterness.

I don’t own a buff, but thanks for the reminder that I need to buy one. I was on the Wando this spring and the gnats were so thick I pulled my shirt over my head and pulled my sleeves over my hands. They were still biting me. We all ***** about the wind around here, but that was one day I was trying to find some wind.

You’re welcome. Just pay shipping. The white and blue don’t look so stupid as some of the ones out there.

It's really pretty simple...if you don't like a chilly wind in your face when you're running wide open, wear one. If you don't like noseeums attacking your face, ears, etc, wear one. If you don't want a bad sunburn on your neck, ears, etc, wear one. If those things don't bother you, don't wear one.

I wear all of these things, and more, from all of these brands. Not to look cool, or to look like I know how to fish…I wear it all because it’s all designed with the fisherman in mind. From materials to construction to the look, it’s all purpose built equipment that serves a function. Can you do without? Sure… Is it nice to have good gear and not worry about it…for (**()ED SURE

Also of note, Buff now makes an XL version for those of you like me with large craniums.

I’ve seen a few of the large craniums on the water. you know who you are.

andyb, thanks for the link to the offer. I took advantage it because I too require “protection” from 50+ years in the sun.

They legitimately help cut glare when sight fishing.

You’re welcome. I think they do that deal all the time. So wait a while longer and order another. I have 2 of them to cycle though washes. I have bought one of their shirts too, so I don’t feel too bad about getting 2 buffs off of them.

At 29, I don’t yet have skin issues. But do watch my mom have to get cut on from time to time. Also an old baseball coach and die hard fisherman just had 2/3 of his nose removed within the last year. Good Lord it was nasty looking.

. So you’re saying fishermen who wear a buff appear silly?

No. Well, maybe. But, the only one I care about is me.

Just curious…A question for the guys that wear buffs…How do you keep your sunglasses from fogging up when you breathe ? I’ve tried wearing one, for the sun protection…but every time I exhale, my glasses fog up.
