Bentley > Boyd?

If Tajh was scared to death of SC, and his stats, lack of wins, and overall composure facing the Gamecocks tells us that, what does that make Bentley?

You guys need to find your Boyd before you will get your Watson. And unfortunately I think you all are only on your Brandon Streeter. But then again about all he could win against was USC. Maybe in about 20 years Gamecocks you’ll have a decent QB.

I think Bentley will be a decent QB. Not to say a “all time great” or an early round draft pick but decent. Keep in mind this kid’s only 19 years old. He was supposed to be a Senior in high school last year. Plus, many “good” or “decent” QB’s have looked pretty bad against Clemson’s defense. Granted, he’s a little loose/careless with the football from time to time for my taste. All indications are he’s lights out on the practice field but can’t seem to find that on game day. For some people, the speed of the game on game day just doesn’t slow down like it does at practice for them.

To be honest, I don’t believe Bentley is the main issue with USC’s offense. None of their receivers have stepped up in the absence of Samuel. Sure, some have had moments but there hasn’t been any consistency from them. As far as Hayden Hurst, he’s been all but MIA in some games this year yet he’s said to be an early round draft pick for the NFL. I’m still not sold on Roper either. Yes, players play and coaches coach but his offenses have cost him his job in recent history. It wouldn’t stun me if he was let go after the bowl game.

God bless the “ignore” function.

He is twenty years old, which is the age of most people in his class, and some juniors. I guess he was held back a year at some point.

Ok, first of all he is 20. And second, when DW4 was 20 he threw for over 400 yds and 4 tds against what everyone at the time said was the best defense they had ever seen.

So go away Mr. Dog no Fight

I personally think Roper is the issue. There is tons of talent but he cant get them all on the same page. His play calling is awful.
I’m not to worried about Bentley, he is talented and just needs the game to slow down. For some it takes awhile, some it never happens. Next year he will have a very good QB pushing him so I think that will help…or he will lose his job.
As for Hurst, he has not been targeted. Again this goes back to Roper. The best receiver you have is not being utilized.

Tough for Hurst to catch passes when they are 4ft over his head.

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

Boyd can at least say he was sacked by the #1 NFL draft pick, many times. It’s a shame Boyd was talked into coming back for his senior year by Dabo. That particular class was weak at QB and he may have been drafted by someone, instead he came back and got worked over the next season and has just as many passing yards in the nfl as Geronimo.
Tahj Boyd, Kyle Parker, the list goes on, Watson was lucky enough to get out of Clemson before his senior year even though they used him up by playing him hurt. The Texans are feeling that now, Thanks, Dabo.

True, the play calling looks horrid, but I got to believe they are giving Bentley options. He just seems like he is ready to pull the trigger on a predetermined receiver and can’t see audibles or check down very well. That, and he over throws a 6’5" Hurst. Dude has a wingspan like an eagle and still can’t get to the ball it’s so overthrown.

I didn’t know Watson hurt his right knee while at Clemson.

Lattimore wishes he was used as much as Watson.

Some folks see knee injuries as debilitating circumstances and cry in their milk and talk about how some coach ruined their career. Some call them “oil changes” and go on to be hall of fame QBs.

Didn’t Taj throw the very first INT in the XFL too? Everyone loves a record holder…

Wow!!! You tater tots really do take this pointless rivalry personal don’t you?

My comment was nothing more than my objective take on Bentley. I could care less how stacks up (or doesn’t) against any Clemson QB. That said, how is it you open with a “Boyd” comparison but then use DW4 to support your comment?

I have no dog in this chick fight. I could personally care less about either team. I like talking football and obviously USC and Clemson are going to be the teams talked about here.

For the record, Bentley turned 20 six days ago. I don’t know if he was held back in school or not but I do know he was supposed to be a Senior in high school, playing high school football, last year when he was playing college football. Besides, age has no correlation with grade in school. My son has a late birthday like Bentley. He didn’t turn 5 until after the deadline so he has to wait until next school year to go to Kindergarten. He’ll turn six shortly after starting Kindergarten when other classmates will have just turned five shortly before that. Besides, age has no bearing on experience. Chris Weinke was 26 when he was a Freshman at FSU. By your summation, he should’ve been an Assistant Coach/Offensive Coordinator.

It starts at the top Bo. Will Muschamp is the head coach and he hired Roper. I think there are more problems than just a bad OC.

Sounds to me like they brought an immature kid out to play ball with men?

You needn’t answer, as I know you ignore me.

Because no other QB, NFL or college, has ever done or still does that. It’s funny you bag on Bentley but then hold him to the highest standards to point out his shortcomings. We’re all crappy people when compared to Jesus Christ.
