My oldest daughter who is 5, asked me if she could go fishing with daddy. Of Course!!!So We decided that Sunday was going to be our day, just the two of us. This girl has been so excited to go it is all she has talked about.
I woke here up at 7am Sunday morning and she was ready to go. First things first we had to get some bait and food. A quick stop at the “bait hole” and one cast of the net took care of the bait requirement. Now on to McD’s for some pankakes and sausage. Got to the boat ramp and it was quite a bit cooler that I thought, but she was still excited none the less. By 830 we were leaving the ramp heading to spot #1.
Spot #1 yielded nothing. But a quick move down the bank to spot #2 did. We found a little bent where the trout were ambushing bait coming with the tide. We caught 6 Nice keepers pretty quickly. the tide rose and the action died on to another spot. Spot #3 was a few min boat ride away. We pick up a slot red and another nice keeper trout right away then nothing. After a few minutes of nothing we trolled down to spot #4. Spot #4 gives up 3 Big trout and a 26" red.
With the tide nearly high, the wind blowing and Mommy calling we called it a day and headed for the ramp. She drove the boat back.
She reeled in nearly all of the fish. And loved enery second of it. She did need a little help with the red!

Very nice bro! My oldest is 2 and she went shrimping with me for the first time a couple weeks ago… We got caught in a bad rain storm and got soaked but she had a blast and passed out in the truck before we got out the parking lot!
My daughter is in her 30’s now with 4 children. She constantly reminds me of all of the fishing trips I took her on. Perhaps the first one was when she was about your daughters age. I’ll never forget her words. “Daddy I caught a lot more fish than you did”
She definatly is special. I only hope that her two little sisters show the same enthusiasm she does.
We are heading to Michigan for thanksgiving and she asked if I would take her deer hunting. I am so proud!!!
