Best Ice Chest / cooler/ drink storager

Hey need some opinions… (insert joke here)

I am looking to buy a couple of coolers. 50-80 quart size. Food movements, drinks, small fishing that kind of thing.

Who has the best cooler over all? Coleman, yeti, igloo??

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

most definitely a YETI if you are willing to spend the money for one. it will out last any other cooler…and bears cant get in it

I just bought a Coleman Extreme 150 qt. online for $80 and right now they’re offering free shipping. It’s not availabe in stores. It’s huge but I bought it to use on a fishing toon. So far I really like it.

I’d rather fish than eat.

Check the Coleman website, I bought a 58 quart extreme marine for $40 and free shipping. They have online deals a lot.

The second one is a great video.

If you have the money, go with a Yeti. I got mine 2 years ago and have abused the hell out of it. Its my poling platform, beer cooler, fish cooler, dry box, ect. I have the 65 qt and a buddy has a 45 that we use as a casting platform.

strip…strip…FISH ON!

Yeti all the way. I have about ten coolers of all makes and sizes. They will all fail at some point…blown hinges etc.

We own a 45 qt yeti which is on the flats boat which doubles as a casting platform and have a 65 qt under the leaning post on the bay boat. Pre cool food and drinks and use good ice and it goes for a whole weekend.

Yeti all the way. I have a 105 and a 65 and love them. I am buying a 35 for a lunch box in the next month or so. Yeti just went up $20 on all their pricing, FYI.

The only problem with a yeti is getting into them. Sometimes the suction created inside makes it hard to open the top. But then again, I guess thats why they work so well. Sometimes it takes something to pry it open.

Loosen the drain to break the suction. It will open right up.

Yeti coolers for sure. I think most of my employees own a Yeti and love them. They definitely hold ice much longer than other coolers. They won’t slide in the boat, are tough as anything, and are multi-purpose. I use my 35 quart Yeti as a casting platform and a seat in front of the console. I put the seadeck on top of the lid and put a cushion on top of that. When I use it as a casting platform I just take the cushion off and put it on the bow. Otherwise the cushion stays on for a seat. To really keep ice the longest, you would want to put a block of ice in it to cool it down, then put the items plus more ice in it. I have put my Yeti in the back of my truck in the middle of summer and kept ice in it for days. Even when the ice melts the water is still cold…

REELIN N DEALIN II

I hate it when bears ravage my cooler.

I won a Yeti Roadie at the waterfowlers convention and love it. However I dont have a problem at all with the suction. My cooler however will leak if tipped over. Since I won it on a raffle I dont know if yeti will fix. Is this typical?

Hey Reelshock…check the youtube vid that IM4USC posted before you spend all that money on a Yeti or others. It is a really good vid in my opinion. I was gonna by a yeti myself but backed off. Just saying it is worth your time. Post your thoughts… NN

Yeti 45 quart cooler, about $280. Igloo 54 quart cooler about $37

Ice… FREE at many many gas stations all over the Lowcountry. Or $1.25 for 20 pounds of crushed ice if you can’t find one of those free stations.

Not ragging on you (Hadrells guy).

I only need ice for 36 hours, max. All coolers can do that.

So… 8 54 quart Igloo coolers for $296.
One 45 quart Yeti cooler for $280.

And I stand on my $37 Igloos (full of free ice) all the time.

Probably a fine product (Yeti). I don’t need one.

I never saw a free anything gas station. I need ice for a few hours.$20 cooler works for me.

I’ll 10th the YETI.

I got mine a few weeks back. You can jump up and down on it, and it doesn’t think about flexing. I’m 200lbs.

I’ve had Coleman X-treme, Igloo Marine, etc. Nothing keeps ice like the Yeti does. I can leave it in the sun for days and it’s no big deal. Even after the ice is nearly gone, it’s still like a fridge and is ice-cold on the inside.

I went w/ the 85qt. It’s huge and is about 33lbs empty. It sucks for a casual trip to the lake when I wanna take a few beers. So – I’m gonna get one of the Yeti Rodies – probably the 25qt. with the stainless handle.

Yeah, it’s a lot of money, but it allows some decent options to secure it to your vehicle. Mine’ll be locked up secure, soon!

Get a Yeti, never look back. I’m sure you piss away $350/mo in stupid bull**** most of the time. Might was well get your money’s worth this month!
