Wanting to get two new spinning reels to inshore fish with. Looking for some around the $100 range. What’s the best ones for this price. Tired of replacing zebco’s
Check with Too Busy here about the Okuma Trio or Trio 30, good products. He used them in his kayak fishing business!!
Shimano Symetre… less than 100 and hold up well
Shimano or Penn will catch thousands of fish without problems. Keep reels clean, with good line, and back off the drag after use, and you will not have problems.
X 2. 2500 or 3000 model filled with 8-15 lb. braid.

Penn Battle, awesome reels for the money.
I’m so salt life I sued google earth for giving away all of my fishing spot’s.
i have an okuma avenger for my favorite walleye/inshore rod and it works great. smooth reeling and drag and has a bait clicker option for bottom fishing.
Penn battle, shimano symetre, okuma trio. 3000 size

“Fish On”
Have Trios and Battles. Actually like the Trios more, especially at the price ($55 or so online). But the Battles are harder to pass up now that they can be had for about $80. Maybe not as smooth as the Trios but suspect they may hold up better in the long run (though my Trios remain perfect as new after a year with a hosedown and Corrosion X spray). As for size, I’m not nearly as experienced as most on here but I don’t get the 3000 size. Most 4000s are built on 3000 frames so you add an ounce for a bigger spool but that ounce buys you a huge capacity or strength increase. Battle 3000 - 11.6 oz, 10# drag, 205 yds of 15#. Battle 4000 - 12.6, 13# drag, 335 of 15# (or 205 of 30).
I have a 1st generation Abu Garcia Cardinal. Can’t remember the model number but it’s a mid-range size. I’ve used it for years. Some years, once a week. Some years, once a month or less. I’ve essentially neglected it but it’s working wonderfully.
I have 2 Penn Sargus’ and I love them. Never had a problem with them and they will take a beating. 4000 series!
Also have a few Penn Fierces 4000, 5000 and some shimano solstace. Both work great for trout and redfish
I have a Shimano Symetre that has served me well as well as a Penn Sargus. I have a new Battle and like it so far but time will be the true test. I just got an Okuma Trio high speed for Christmas (based on Too Busy’s comments about them) and though I have not fished it yet, am very impressed with the reel itself. Very solid and sturdy. The bail is a lot thicker than you usually see on a 30 reel and the body seems really rugged. I cannot wait to de-virginize it.
Great reel, again contact TOO BUSY here, Tommy will set you up with the right Okuma reel for your needs!!!
I have a few Battle 3000 and 6000. Both have performed flawlessly. Also have a couple Fierce 3000, and they have both performed well. I have recently bought the Solstace and even the Stradics if you want to spend a little more. Can’t go wrong with a mid range Penn or Shimano. I’m sure the others work well too, just have never used them. Go to your local tackle shop and they can steer you in the right direction as well.

I like Penn Conquer.
I have a Battle 3000 that’s been great for the past year, looks and feels brand new. People on this site seem to love them… but read the striped bass boards from up north and people hate them??
any shimano reel will do. just keep it clean and spray it down afterwards
