I hear ya. I just saw the new coastal angler has a big cobia on the front. It’s hard to believe in 2 months it will be cobia time again.

Just wanted to give an update. My wife and I stayed at Edisto for 7 days and I think we found the ultimate cure for the noseeums. Just for kicks I picked up 2 of the little yellow,97 cent citronella bracelets at Walmart. Those things work wonders!. Whenever the bugs were out,we’d put the bracelets on. Slowed the bites to almost none while wearing them. Wish I had bought several and put one on my ankle and wrist. I wore mine on the Velcro of my hat. they never got close! Now those yellow flies at Ernest F Hollings refuge…I don’t know the cure for them. They don’t take time to smell you before they bite. Probably need something nuclear for them sonofaguns.

I use the skin soft stuff, but I got a hold of some stuff at bass pro that is 90% deer and that stuff works wonders. I ran out so I can’t give you the name

I’ve bought 100% DEET before. We used it at Fripp Inlet (the pier there). Didn’t do a thing except create a sludge on my arm of DEET grease and dead no-see-ums and gnats. It didn’t repel them one bit. It did kill them once they were on my arm, but all it did was make a very unpleasant situation “unpleasant, and, greasy”.

100% agreed though, it will melt any plastic it touches. Freakish stuff. I work with some VERY harsh solvents at work (MEK, MAK, butyl acetate, toluene, etc) and none of them melt plastic so universally and predictably as DEET lol.

May sound crazy but try lots of sun screen. Or just cover up.
