We made it out there on 7/1 and found no action with spanish or even Cudas. I can’t remember the last time we went to the Ross in July and couldn’t manage at least a few spanish and always at least 1 cuda. Did anybody get out this past weekend, see any spanish anywhere?
We did get 7 spanish on 6/30 betwween whitewater and south beach. They weren’t schooling, but we managed a few.

We were at the breakers in front of Trenchards Inlet as well as the Fripp Tire reef Saturday and 0 Spanish …not hardly a bird was seen . I’m not sure whats up . We normally have lots of action at either of these locations this time of year .We haven’t had any luck with the Spanish all year . Maybe they are wherever the Kings are hanging out . It was a little too rough to look for spades but we did end up with a big cuda at the tire reef .
Inshore, the best schools of Spanish I’ve seen this year were early… April and May in PRS/Broad R. Since then I’ve seen occasional jumpers in PRS and Skull Creek but nothing super organized. The few times I’ve fished off South Beach I’ve not seen Spanish, and that is historically a great spot for me. Hoping for Pogies to get thicker in the sounds again, as it’s been kinda desolate.

Couldn’t agree more. It has been very strange this season. Went to the Ross and Hump yesterday and nada, zip, zilch. Bait was hard to find, not much life at the Ross, no spades, one lonely flyer at the Hump.
Fished inshore on Friday. Found plenty of shrimp and caught a bunch of short trout, ladyfish and crevalle jacks. Not one single redfish. Didn’t even see one.
Also, is anyone else tired of the wind blowing all the time?
I saw what I believed to be a school of spanish blowing up the water Sunday morning out of the mouth of ribbon creek. I eased the boat within casting distance and all of the sudden the fish, the birds, and any other signs of life were gone.
I’m tired of the wind as well… One love where abouts were you catching the jacks? I haven’t caught one of those in a while now. I managed some short trout a few keeper trout (all released) and some sheepshead this week myself.
Jacks were caught along the grass just after high tide in Skull Creek. Live shrimp under a popping cork. I realize they are supposed to be a trash fish but I think they’re kind of fun…
There has been very few spanish out of Fripp Inlet (drydock, 6hi etc). This is the third year in a row that the spanish haven’t shown up. The bluefish are certainly here…
