big bay creek

we are looking to go out of big bay to the edisto 40. never been out of this side the island. looks fairly simple except for coming around corner out the creek. anybody got any advice on coming out the creek.
thanks in advance.

You can come straight out of Big Bay Creek about 50 to 100 yards and then line up on the red marker that will be just to your left. There is deep water just off the beach to the left. The main issue is don’t cut that corner to the left at the point of land. You can download the Navionics app for free or maybe a few bucks and see what I mean. There should also be enough traffic to watch the track of someone going out or in the route you want to take. Be careful as you start heading out as well. You have shallows/breakers to the left and I never turn to head to the 40 until I have cleared the “1” green can marker, though I am sure others have routes that are shorter.

thanks. thats what i was looking for. that is almost exactly what the app is showing. thanks again.

Good advice from jghall. Just be cautious crossing the sandbars. When in doubt, go out further before you cut across. It can get a little dicey looking at how shallow it can get passing through the breakers.
