My guess would be a pier gaff… Big treble hook on a rope… That’s only a guess though. That’s a huge fish!

Wow! Nice fish or either that guy is like two feet tall.
The fish was taken to Beaufort Boat & Dock…Mikey said it weighed 73 lbs. I would have guessed 90 0r 100, so the guy must be really short.
If I had to guess from the pic I was guessing 90 too. Still a slob!

Herb is always pulling in the big fish out there…He also had a 10ft lemon shark off the pier I think it was last year. And yes he is like 5’5’ or so.

He’s having a great season. We gaffed a different fish for him because he was struggling to stick it with his treble hook pier gaff. It was a 30 ponder we gaffed for him.

You have to use big test out there, there is structure everywhere. Cobia know where them pilons are, they’ll wrap you up in a hurry. 200lb mono gives a better chance to pull her back from them barnicle ridden pilons. That fish was 57" though, i don’t care if a guy is 4 foot or 10 foot tall. She was a BRUISER!!
