Bama was like week 4 “#1”. Clemson is a much more legit #1 as I believe Bama lost 3-4 games that year.
Bigger for the program? It would take years to find out. Would that land Elliott the job? Would he build a good program? Would that stop all decootmentments?
Bama meant about as much as the 5peat. Its nice to talk about but the other school was the one that earned some nice hardware around the same time. Hardware is what we play for.
You SEC fanboys are so silly. Alabama sucked that year. Their big win was what, Florida? Who finished barely bowl eligible?
This discussion is so irrelevant anyway. I’m looking forward to starting in the upper deck, and then making way down to field level as the Coot fans fade out in the 3rd quarter to celebrate with my undefeated Tigers!
Why is beating Bama any better than Holtz beating New Mexico State?
Changed the attitudes/confidence of the fan base?
Huge boost to your coming year’s recruiting class?
Got buy in from the team for the coaching staff?
Those three things are reasons that Clemson would be a bigger win, plus, you’d end the season on a positive, rather than negative, note, but I digress.

FYI,
Alabama was 10-3 in 2010 with their other two losses coming to LSU and Auburn by a combined 4 points. In case you don’t recall, 2010 Auburn was the 12-0 national champions led by Scam Newton and LSU finished #8 in the country at 11-2. So to say that Alabama “sucked” is not only wrong, its just plain ignorant.
Alabama’s big win of the 2010 season was the 49-7 blowout bowl win over #7 Michigan State.
Now that you have some facts, you can avoid looking silly in the future when debating how great your team is this year vs. how USC wasn’t really all that great 5 years ago. BTW, the same lowly Gamecocks team that beat Alabama by two touchdowns also whipped Clemson 29-7 a few weeks later…but its ok because Clemson will likely hang 70 in Billy Brice on Saturday making you feel better about yourself.
