Was down on vacation last week. Got invite from man we rent from. Mr JB Miller. He took me, my 14yo son, and two of his Aiken buddies sons out for the blackfish. Left marina at 6:30ish on his 26’ SeaCat. Had planned to go to 80’ for some bigger fish. Weather was calling for 1-2’, ended up 2-4’ and some whitecaps to build in afternoon. Decided not to go that far. Tried 2 or 3 spots out past Edisto 60 in 62’ of water. Smallish fish. Lot and lots @ 11-11.5". Went to 3rd hole - bingo. We worked spot drifting squid and cut strips. Must have caught 150 all total. Kept 33 blackfish. One 4# ? fish, and caught 4 sharpnose about 3.5-5’. One, I think a blacktip about 6’er lost at the boat. Had a good trip, great company, and nice mess of fish. My son’s first offshore trip. He did get seasick after 5 hrs but, was a little man and kept fishing. Was fine after we got moving back in. Headed out about 1:30 due to his green gills and the heat. Again defying the forecast the wind laid down on way back in. Ran in WOT. Once at the C can you hit the heat wave on the way back. Only about 96 at ramp. Missed the storm. Thanks again Mr JB.
