Blacktips?

I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction to catch some good (4-6’) blacktip/spinners. I come down a couple times of the year and never do well in Edisto. I catch them fine in bft and charleston. I have tried the point by big bay crk, combahee light, and in the sound, with chum/live and dead bait/top and bottom rigs…not much luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for anybodies spots, just a little direction, thanks.

In front of Otter island is almost always a guarenteed Blacktip. Anchor up in about 12’-20’ of water, with a good moving tide and put a couple lines on the bottom, and at least 1 on top floating at the swivel with a balloon. Sit back and drink some water, or beverage of your choice and let him come to you. I’ve always had the best luck fishing with big stingray wings.
Just be careful of the sand bar in front of Otter. You’ll have to go through the ■■■■■■■ cut coming from Edisto. You can actually anchor up close to the Green pole as your coming up on Otter.
Good Luck.

What are you describing as “in front of Otter”? The Combahee/Ashepoo side or St. Helena?

Next time you come in, come heavy, or not at all…

Are you talking about this area?

Use to catch a lot off the point at St Peire and S.Edisto. Sting ray seeams to be the best bait, use a rod holder or you will loose a rod very quick! Know by ex[perence!

Another good place for sharks is the dropoff from the sandbar on pine island directly across the s edisto inlet from the mouth of big bay crk. My boy and I caught a 7 ft lemon there last August.

Some big ones have been caught on and near your #1 & #2 mark.

Not sure what boat your in, but the son and I should have had our butts whipped over memorial day for being in a 16’ skiff. It can get really rough out there.

Combahee light side, that’s what I call the front.

I see your numbers now. Marks 1 & 2 have always been great spots for us.
