I was fishing the broad today near the end of parris island… used cut bait and caught not only a few sharks, but also some whiting and a couple of nice bluefish…

That ain’t no bluefish, not even close, and why are you squeezing the cutlassfish by the gills? I hate to be the fish police but please don’t kill anything that doesn’t need killing. That fish is dead, just for a picture. No need for that. Wanton waste of wildlife they call that. Treat them with respect. Don’t kill our fish when you don’t even know what they are. How did it taste?

Trying to educate them politely, OC. Hope I didn’t come across too strong. People can’t help what they don’t know.
CJ5 and your buddy, thank you for being Marines, I appreciate what you do. You probably aren’t from around here and we’re glad to have you. But please don’t kill fish needlessly. Thank you.
Edit: BTW that cutlass fish makes a great trolling bait and could probably be sold for $20 in a Kingfish tournament. That’s not a wanton waste of wildlife

That’s what I was think’n. We’re fishing the Kings For Vets tournament the 20th in Charleston. I might try to catch a few of those and freeze them
Not many dead baits better than that. Good luck!

I have some of those artificial Ribbonfish lures at least 2’ long that I have never used. Maybe we should drag em?? They came with the current boat I have.
Also, a loooong time ago we were at Wrightsville Beach fishing from shore the night before a charter and I caught a Ladyfish and thru it back. The next day I told the Capt. Lee Stokes (Predator Sportfishing) about it and he said we should have iced it and brought it for trolling.
DIdn’t have a clue, but now, I’m less clueless:smiley:!
