My boat insurance is up for renewal next month, and the policy includes $2,000 annually in towing fees, with no deductible. What are your thoughts on dropping Sea Tow or BoatsUS and using the insurance policy if I need a tow? I have a 22 ft Sea Hunt.
Not me, I’ll keep my Sea Tow. I’ve never been towed, had them for 10 years or more, but they are there if I need them.

You’ll probably be fine without a towing service. Something to remember, however, you will have to secure your own tow, pay for it, and submit the bill to insurance. You will probably call Seatow or BoatUS, and they’ll probably charge you north of $300 per hour (dock to dock). And you’ll go to the bottom of the list behind any ‘member’ waiting for service. Depending on where you boat, might work out either way, not counting any increase in insurance premium …
Seatow and Boat US also give priority to members. Also, I think they offer free fuel delivery. You just pay for the cost of the fuel.

Does anyone know how far offshore seatow will actually come out? Ive heard varying distances.
If you can reach them on your radio I think they will come! Not Sur about a sat. phone!
