I really do not want to drag this out and I would rather it focus on helping rather than name calling and such. I honestly do not know what boat they were in, nor the abilities of the captain. Obviously, both had to be at least pretty good for them to have made it out and back on that day.
Maybe the guy who started this thread will continue to do this. At the least, I hope this does not empower other folks to think it is ok to go out in SCA’s.
We all risk getting caught out in terrible wx. It sucks. Being prepared helps…from equipment, to boat maint, to knowing how to run a boat.
This is not a situation where I am doing this to mess with folks. Sadly, even after all the stuff we have seen go down, it takes going in the drink or coming close to get some folk’s attention.

This is why I said you need to hold a seminar on SCA’s or at least start a new topic instead of ruining a fishing report. That is if you really are just commenting because you fear for everyones safety so much.Or maybe just trying to stir the pot… You cant rely soly on noaa sometimes you just have to see for yourself, but you cant do that if you stay at home on the cf all day trying to bash people for using the site for what is here for. Have a nice Day

I actually took my kids to the beach that day… it was blowing like hell… I fished inshore the day before…it was blowing like hell too…

Sorry if you feel I ruined your fishing report. Maybe I did, but in all of this, it appears you have been pretty brazen about the wx you took people out in…

I am not sure I understand your comment on not being able to rely soley on NOAA. I do not think most educated boaters rely soley on NOAA to decide to go, but let me ask you this if you do not mind. How many people do you think go out when there is an SCA? Why do you think people do not go?

It is odd to me that you really think I am the bad guy here when you posted a report on an open forum. An open forum that by design encourages and caters to responses. You went out in a SCA and wrote a report. Were you expecting nothing but positive responses?
Honestly, if I wanted to be an ass whole, I am sure I could have mustered up something better than what I have put on here. For what it is worth, I truly do not want to see people get sunk out there and all the stuff that happens with it. It is a terrible thing to happen to you or a freind or a family member. Most stuff that happens out there is a combination of factors. Weather is usually one of the main ingrediants. When you go out in really bad wx, you significantly increase your chances for bad stuff to happen. Maybe you know all this… still, you kinda seem defiant about it.

Look dude you are worse than my wife. Just try and realize that you are not the only one on the east coast that knows anything about boating safety. Not trying to say that I know everything but I am comfortable on the pond and know my limits, I appreciate your concern but not your judjement of me putting my friends or myself in harms way.You take a risk of some kind everyday sometimes several times a day. AS far as you getting under my skin, you have a long way to go before you graduate to that level. On that note you may want to think about who you are talking to like that…Not everyone on this site are under age, silver spoon daddys money boys that you can talk to how ever you please…
