Went out this morning with the Baracuda and his lovely bride.
Was a sporty ride out but the cat smoothed it right out (would not even have tried in the Key West).
We wanted to troll but no grass lines or rips so we just bottom fished a few spots.
First drop with my trusty jig and two hops with it and hooked up strong…YES, grouper…NO…Amberjack that worked me over for a few minutes, dang it! I have heard they are good eating but I am not into the worm thing:stuck_out_tongue:.
Anyway, we went on to catch a variety of nice Triggers, Vermillion, Sea Bass and Red Porgies to load the box. The 4 of us had a great time. Can’t wait to go again.
It really laid down at midday which made for a good ride in. Thankfully the T-storms did not greet us at the coast.
Got a couple pics but to tired to fool with right now.
Nice ! BTW I caught an amberjack last week and kept it. You’re right, they are wormy. But the worms can be easily removed and are not harmful if accidently eaten after the fish is cooked. The tail section isn’t worth keeping. Otherwise, pinch on one end of the worm and pull it out gently. It is excellent meat. White and firm. To me, it’s worth the extra work of removing the worms. Other than the tail section, I found about 7 or 8 two inch worms in the rest of the 15+pound fish.
Alone. Cooped up in an office. Waiting for a picture. A picture of an uncluttered horizon. A rooster tail gleaming with blue water. A bend rod. Possibly even a stuffed cooler. That moment never came.
I still wait, longing to live vicariously through those who go offshore. These pictures are what I seek. I need them to carry on. Yet, my phone doesn’t vibrate. This post remains photo-less.
