And why do you keep bringing Clemson’s top 25 record into this like it even matters? They could have ZERO top 25 wins and still be playing Fresno St in the Orange Bowl. Not like it’s anything worth bragging about, but Clemsons ranking really is meaningless at this point.
Now the records of AU, Bama, and OSU all are something to talk about, and I am very curious to see how it all shakes out.

I was comparing teams with wins over top 25 teams. No disrespect, just pointing out that several of the top teams only have 0 or 1 win over a current top 10 team.
I think you have to be int the top 14 to be considered for a at-large bid. If Clemson has zero wins against top 25, that would mean they lose to USC. Depending on the score, They may not be in the top 14.
And I think Clemson would wax Fresno state.
Why don’t you ask Spurrier, he’s the one that made a big deal after UGA did the same thing last season.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

For Clemson in the Orange it is not an at-large. They take ACC #2 regardless if FSU goes to the BCSCG, I believe. The rules are for the AAC winner, if they aren’t ranked in the top 14 or 15, then they can go to an at large bid. I think the top ranked ACC team regardless has to be in the Orange Bowl.
Thanks for trying to clarify. but I think “They take ACC #2 regardless if FSU goes to the BCSCG, I believe.” Seems odd.
Seems it would make more since to take the highest ranked ACC team not in the NC game.
I’m not a fan of the automatic bids. Should be done by ranking.
Salty I think the difference was that the Gamecocks beat everyone in the east that year, neither Georgia nor Missouri have done that this year. I can understand any team being upset by not winning their division if they beat everyone in their division.
The Orange bowl does not have to take the ACC #2 if FSU is in the NC game. If Clemson loses to USC, they will be out of the top 12 in the final BCS rankings and therefore not be eligible to be a pick.
If 2 bowls games lose their automatic qualifier from the conference to the NC game then the bowl that loses the #1 team gets first pick to replace it and the other gets the second pick. These have to be picked from the other automatic qualifiers (top 12, etc., etc,) that are tied to another bowl, like Oregon to the Rose.

True but both of SC’s losses this year are to East teams, Mizzou’s would be split between East and West. IE Mizzou should already be East champions under the scenario but it still hinges on beating T A&M and Ole Miss. SC wins the tie breaker by virtue of the win over Mizzou yet has two division losses, one being to a very bad UT team and the other to a backsliding UGA team that Mizzou beat up.

That link says that the Orange Bowl will be an at large bid vacated by FSU and the team has to have 9 wins and ranked in the top 14. So Clemson would have to be in the top 14.
Thanks for the link.
On another note, I think a loss to USC will put Clemson around the 12-13 spot.
I agree, but I also think there will be more attractive teams for the Orange than a 10-2 Clemson team that had losses to 2 out of 3 good teams they played at that point!
Sure is some Clemson fans worrying alot about how we might end up winning the SEC east on here. Dont worry about the SEC. Focus on the ACC division that you lost by blowout.

I agree, but if things play out the way that I predicted in my match ups, the only teams that will be more attractive than Clemson will be 2-3 SEC teams. And you can only have 2 spots from the SEC, Auburn and Bama were my picks.
Even if USC, TAMU, and Mizzou are all ranked higher than Clemson, they ain’t going. Michigan St. might be the only team ranked right around Clemson in this scenario. So it will come down to ticket sales IMO.

Really? Seems most of the discussion is on whether the Orange bowl will take Clemson or not.

lets hope so. We may need it, but lets just win and be 11-1 and not worry about it!

I don’t know what you have been reading, but their really isn’t anyone in the country who gives a chit about the SEC East title.
I still think it is funny that Kenny Miles called his SEC East ring a championship ring.

You let him get to you. Obviously many people care about the SEC East. And every division champ celebrates in some form or another. banner, trophy, ring. whatever. Don’t try to belittle it just because CRM got under your skin.
It had been a quality conversion…Until he through crap in the fan.
Here is the raw facts where the BCS bowls are concerned. If Clemson beat SC and is eligible for the Orange or At Large, then a BCS bowl is going to snap them up in a heartbeat for the simple reason, they put asses in the stadium. The opponent doesn’t matter from a standings point, the ratings and attendance do. A 3 or 4 loss Sakkerliner isn’t going to a BCS game. SC’s only legit shot is beating Clemson and winning the SECCG for a Sugar Bowl birth and that isn’t going to happen.

Very possible that USC gets a Gator or something like that and Clemson gets another visit to the Peach. Though I’m really hoping SC plays like they did against UF and UT in a few weeks.
