Got lines out just before dusk and quickly had a spinner shark of around 6 feet take bait, gave me three huge spinning leaps and that was that. I let my adrenaline crank the drag a hair too much. Later on I got these two (5ish footers) I can’t identify the first, second is a blacktip. The first kinda gave up quickly after three or four minutes, but got her revenge with a nice tailslap bruise to my calve muscle (hand-sized bruise) Got her back in quick with the help of passersby holding the rod. The second one MEANT BUSINESS. Ran me from the inlet starting 40 yards from the bridge, all the way around to the beachfront side, then just sat down and said “NOPE”. Finally she ran back towards the inlet, thank god, because my tail rope, locking pliers and cutters were all there. Long story short, got the hook back on the second one clean. HAD to clip the first one right at the hook (she was out of water as long as I could stand it, didn’t want her to pass out). Both swam strong! My biggest sharks so far. That spinner I missed was really crazy too! tight lines!
Can y’all ID the one in the top two photos?
No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.
Finetooth?
Looks like a Finetooth to me as well. Gill slits and snout look right.
cool, I also thought so after looking up SC Shark photos

Awesome catch
Anyone can do nothing, be someone and do something
Roddy pulled a double, and a hefty blacktip as well:stuck_out_tongue: Your first one that got away might have been a blacktip also they love jumping, but who knows. Nice catch, Roddy.
Nice job! Breach was the first spot that i ever hooked anything big too, looking back I think it was a ray on my Penn 6500. Almost spooled me! I remember calling my Dad in NY telling him about the whole ordeal!

Pretty cool. I need to hook you up with my son, he is dying to catch a shark or 2.

Freedom, I’ll try and remember to msg you in advance when I’m going. I live in Columbia, so I may get one or two more nights in before they slack off. Sure do wanna get back down soon…
