Breach inlet or north folly surf fishing?

Going surf fishing in the am. I’ve never fished the front beach of north folly but heard good things on here from you guys. But got a huge hit last weekend at the inlet. So my question is where to go? Where would you go? Thanks

Depends.

If I’m being a bit lazy, Breech is a much shorter and easier walk. And I’ve caught nice fish at both places.

However, north Folly is just so sweet and I think you stand a better chance of catching other things in the surf like small spades, pompano, and more chance at bull reds.

Bull Reds are running the surf for sure right now. Reports of them eating cut mullet and quartered crab

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Where is a good spot after getting to the beach and walking left? First set of rocks? Or before then? (North Folly)

I have seen a lot pulled off the end of the pier … and haven’t heard to many reports off the north end. Last report was ohionavynuke he pulled bonnethead. Hear of some nice black drum being pulled off the jetties at 13th st. Then Stan is catching some I think in the 8th block but they primary target sharks, but they are catching some reds on the same set up they are using for the sharks

Over the past few weeks fishing the north end of Folly (first groin/jetty up from the beach access at the cul-de-sac), I’ve pulled a few slot red drum (under 20" for the most part), a couple of stingrays and more puffer fish than I care to count; mostly on frozen shrimp. In the same spot last Monday when the weather was so bad, my buddy pulled a 33" red drum, an 18" flounder and a couple of whiting on frozen mullet heads. For some reason, the heads were all they were biting on that day. Overall, quantity could be better, but the quality’s been “ok.”

Went to my normal spot on the north end of Folly. Windy and cold. Couldn’t see any bait, so after about an hour of blind cast netting, I gave up and went with lures. Tough straight into the wind. Got a couple of bites on soft plastic shad and managed to land a 14" weakfish. Called it a day after 3 hours.
