I just moved to South Carolina and looking to get into surf fishing. I’ve heard breach inlet is a good spot to fish. I’ve fished it 4 times and had no luck at all. My question is when is the best times to catch fish? What baits are the best ? Also what fish should I target at breach inlet. Also are there any other good surf fishing spots in the area of mount pleasant, folly, and charleston. Thanks

Contrary to popular belief, Breach Inlet isn’t all that great. That said, it’s not a bad place to get your feet wet (just not literally though because the currents and drop offs are deadly).
If you want to fish Breach you’ll have your best luck on either side of the beach away from the inlet itself. On the IOP side there are some sandbars in front of the beach, fish the troughs in between and you will get some whiting and blues.
The SI side is even better around the rocks. The further you get from the inlet the better. Everyone has different opinions on tides, but the way I like to fish pretty much everywhere is to try to catch it a little before high tide. That way I can catch it coming in, peak high, and going out. Going out is probably the best though.
X2 on what Lucid said. Best time to fish is when you can. Don’t fish in the inlet, try the surf on either side. Sullivans side gets busy with paddleboarders and kite surfers, so I prefer the IOP side. I prefer the incoming tide over the outgoing, and like to fish early in the morning, or late in the afternoon. Not as hot and not as crowded on the beach. Double drop rig (also called high/low rig) with small hooks and pyramid sinker - 3oz is usually about right. Best bait is small pieces of fresh, never frozen, shrimp. Later in the fall I fish both shrimp and pieces of cut mullet. You dont need to cast far. Most fish will be in and around the breaking waves. Go to the beach at dead low tide looking for troughs and holes that will be covered with water when the tide comes in. Fish these gullys and holes on the incoming tide. If you can’t locate troughs or holes just stick with the general rule that most fish will be in and around the breaking waves.
Sounds good thanks. Where about is the Sullivan’s island side. Sorry completely new to the area. Also should I throw a cast net and catch live bait
The side with the round white house is sullivans island. You could also go to stations 12-16 and do well. If you have live bait it will increase odds of bigger fish but not exactly more fish. Fresh shrimp out produces any bait for me.
