Breech Inlet 7/2

I went too the Breech inlet yesterday afternoon, with high tide going in. Lots of nibbles but could not get anything on my hook. Just a few questions. I was using 4oz weight and I felt like the current was taking that for a ride, is it always that bad? I was on the Sullivans side, is there a better set up or a better place to set up.

Fish right next to the rocks.

King Tides July 2-4, currents will be strong. So no, not always this strong. If the fish are biting, I will throw 6-8oz. Pyramids. The winds, have been kind, any other direction would call for cinder blocks and release clips.

I tried the rocks , no luck. I will say the kings tide is real. At least I learned something and enjoyed it.

Anyone can do nothing, be someone and do something

Fished Sullivan’s on Saturday and the current was strong, but right as it was close to low tide it settled and the bite was amazing. I caught a 17" trout (some small flounder as well) and my buddy caught a 23" flounder and a 18" flounder in about 15 min time. The rest of the day we spent a lot of time missing a bunch more fish. Also caught the occasional sea bass and toadfish.

RedFish , I’m glad you had better luck than I did.

Just curious, I’ve never caught a flounder surf fishing, maybe because I tend to fish troughs and holes, not rocks. Are you catching them around rock groins?

Or have I just not been lucky enough to catch one in a trough?

Always around rocks. Certain parts of Sullivan’s offers tons of rock structure. They can be found pretty much at any of them. Just be prepared to lose a few rigs in the process.

Figured you’d might enjoy seeing this  15" and 19" in about 2hrs time. I missed another 2-3 that spit the hook. Also, bunch of toadfish and couple seabass

Were those cought by the rocks? What did you use if I may ask. Very nice and yes I’m jealous!

Fish the rocks with a Carolina Rig and either mud minnows or finger mullet. Last 2 hours of outgoing and 1st 2 or 3 hours of incoming tide. Fish on the right side of the rocks on the outgoing, left side on incoming. Should catch flounder, trout and the occasional small spottail.
Good Luck:sunglasses:

Agree with Jack.
Go in front of the round house at dead low the rocks go straight out then branch off to the left and form a little “bay” cast a mud minnow on a Carolina rig bounce retrieve. You will catch flounder. And you will loose Carolina rigs!

Yes, on the rocks using carolina rigs with a 3/0 or 4/0 kahle hook. I make about a dozen a night or two before, since I know I may lose a good bit of them to the rocks!

Have caught all mine on finger mullet caught in the surf. Haven’t had much luck using mud minnows, since the water really warmed up and the pin fish moved in to just eat their stomachs in a matter of a few seconds. Oh and the occasional crab enjoys himself some bait too.
