I guess in the SEC they can spike the football after a touchdown, and they don’t call horse collar tackles or facemasks. What a crock!!! Glad the D A M N SEC didn’t win it again.

Brent talked more about the SEC and the losing team than FSU after the game was over. Amazing.

He was driving me crazy. And I’m an SEC fan.
Refs were awful last night

Good to hear even sec fans notice it. I know it’s the best conference but it’s like they are told to talk it up 24/7 to protect ESPNs $1B investment. He should have talked about FSU. Last year I don’t recall them talking about ND more than bama after the loss.

The comment he made while they were celebrating, saying jimbo modeled his teams after the SEC, was a joke. Give it a rest. He had been doing what he alway does, recruiting lights out, but finally had a heisman QB and a better DC.

Officiating has been awful all year. It has only been eclipsed by just plain crappy tackling.

Not quite the homer that Lundquist is, but definately the WORST play by play guy in the biz. He can make winning the lottery boring. Should be Nesler and Blackledge as the #1 duo covering the big games.

I think Gary Danielson is the worst homer.

Dunno, I could go the rest of my life never hearing Matt Millen call another game. That dude wasn’t just a homer, he was a OSU booster it seemed.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I like how he started to give the game to Auburn before the half. He started saying how about the state of Alabama and all of their championships and Herbstreet reeled him back in and reminded him it was not even half time yet. I agree he needed to stop with the SEC stuff and just call the game.

True Andy. When Herbie has to check someone, it’s bad.

I thought it was comical that after the game they were talking about how FSU was built just like an SEC team… Lol!

As a lifelong Auburn fan (even though the rough years) I am obviously biased toward SEC. Looking back at schedules, # of bowl wins, and championships there is little doubt that the SEC as a whole is pretty tough. When a conference wins the majority of the BCS championships and took seven straight, the networks and press will bring the hype and schedule more TV time for the SEC teams because it translates into profit (nothing wrong with profit). With more air time and hype one tends to get swept along with the wave.

BUT, the SEC wasn’t always the toughest and there will come a time when another conference stands tall as the king of the hill. Then most of the talk will be about the ACC, Pac 12, or Big 10, etc. I think a lot it all depends on commercialism, hype by the networks and which conference they think will get them the most viewers.

Is the SEC at the end of its reign? Maybe, but I don’t think so and hope not. It is going to take a few more non SEC Championship years before another conference is ‘crowned’ the best.

The SEC’s reign will not end. I don’t think they will keep winning 7 titles in a row but it will stay the best conference.

Think about it

  • Starts with demand and the SEC has the most fans and largest stadiums. Means more money.

-Its the SouthEast were its warm and CFB is king and has the best pool of HS talent.

-they make the most money because of the ESPN investment so they have the best coaching, facilities etc.

-lowest academic standards of any conference. Kids can get in there that would have to go to prep school at other conferences and the SEC leads the country in JUCO transfers.

  • The SEC leads all others in over-signing. They really treat it like a business and cut kids if they are not producing.

Let’s be fair, not all SEC teams have the mentality of over signing and/or cutting kids who are not producing.

Yes, I am a biased UGA fan and have no problem admitting that, BUT let’s take a look at Nick Marshall and Zach Mettenberger. BOTH were on UGA’s squad until they made poor life decisions… Nick was stealing cell phones and money from his teammates in the locker-room and Zach was busted for sexual harassment. Both were cut from the UGA program and found themselves back on SEC rosters. Yes, there are some horrible programs in the SEC in terms of morals, but you cannot judge the entire conference for this. That’s like saying the entire ACC is good because FSU won the National Championship…

yes, you are right, UGA is exempt and Richt always does the right thing.

outside of the oversigning the other factors are extremely hard to compete with for other conferences.
