Broad River 170 bridge

I will be taking a group of guys fishing in the next few weeks and wanted to know if this bridge is worth a look. I have never fished it but have walked it once. The group of guys will have various fishing experience but most will be new or have only fished a few times. Some have never fished the salt. I typically take the group to the beach but wanted to offer a different type of fishing on the cheap. I will work to provide a variety of baits from frozen to anything live I might get in the cast net.

Any input on the area is welcomed and appreciated.

You will see plenty of boats stacked up there fishing for cobia in the coming weeks.

Boat & Dock Supply has frozen bait and live eels as well as any tackle you may need. Great folks too!

Have fun!

You don’t actually fish the bridge… You set up on the rip that’s on the south side of the bridge.

Now everyone will move… you won’t be able to tell the experienced from the inexperienced as easily. Those sitting at the bridge laughing at those in the “wrong place” on the rip.

I’ve never actually fished “the bridge.”

I do on occasion. When the weather is really hot and the sun is blasting, the fish like to get in the shade under the bridge. We hooked a monster under the bridge last year, it ran halfway up to Euhaw Creek before I got it turned around, then it came straight back towards us, looked like a torpedo going by as it passed the boat, but it passed one set of pilings over from us [:0] That didn’t work out.

I keep a float tied to the anchor line so we can just dump it to follow the fish, but it happened so fast that we didn’t get it untied in time.

Thanks everyone for your input. I has been helpful.

Whatever you do don’t tell em about the Hilton Head bridge rip.

Or the Skull Creek rip.
