Have any of ya’ll targeting the cobia seen any of the big spanish in broad river. I like catching them almost as much as I do cobia. I’m thinking of going out this weekend to try my hand at it. Also are the sharks in yet in any numbers?
The sharks are getting very thick, seen about 20 caught on pier yesterday all between 2-4 foot. Have not seen any Mackerel as of yet.

Mackerel have been spotted by a few different people. I have not seen any myself yet though.

When your sabiki rigs start missing the jigs, spanish are in.
I’ve seen several Spanish jump along HHI / Calibogue Sound, on several occasions in the past week so I’d bet there are some in Port Royal. With mostly north/northeast winds I’ve not headed that way yet.
So far the Spanish have been isolated single jumpers. Never what I’d describe as a visible feeding school. I love seeing a bunch of them going crazy though. They have such a graceful arc to their jumps it’s like some kind of fish Cirque du Soleil.
went out Tues to the 45 and the spanish were thick… caught 8 in about 20 mins, and good size. then went to the Ross and caught a few little tunny. of course we caught BSB by the ton, but that is to be expected… We actually caught 2 on one hook once, and have to admit that was a first for me. but haven’t seen any in the broad yet.
