Has the Spanish fishing picked up any in the river yet? Headed down tomorrow. I’ve been trolling this forum a bit. Gonna go cobia fishing for first time. Plan on fishing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I hope to have a good report to add this weekend. You guys post some helpfull fishing reports.
Dont know if this helps but I caught 3 Spanish around the bridge this past weekend on a sabiki rig trying to get bait for cobia
I have not been out there yet this year, but I used to do well at the rip just east of marker #1 on the north side of Hilton Head. Look for working birds and they will put you on the fish.

Have seen some busting bait and caught on sabiki, sharks are in thick in the river, couldn’t keep a bait down there for cobia on Wednesday the short time we were there…

Cracker…would you use Clark spoons or what? Are they in the rip areas all summer?
Yes, silver clark spoons or white bucktail jigs. They will be in the river all summer. I’d pull at least 1 on a small planer, one with a trolling weight and a couple on the surface.

Might be a little late responding to your topic but I’ve seen spanish schooling in the Broad around the bars pretty frequently of late. Just look for the bird and you’ll find em right now
Thanks guys. Spanish seem to be pretty thick out there today. Caught some shorts on the sabiki. Do they stay in the river all summer?
