180lbs 8 point. Shot him 293 yards. He ran made 30 yards with only his back legs working when I last saw him. I killed him at a special place where I only get to go a couple times per season. Biggest rack on a buck I have ever taken. Seems I can’t do any wrong this season, and I am glad my luck has finally changed for the good.
Thanks fellas. I’m not gonna lie though. Seing him all the way through the shot I was fine. After seeing his front end hit the dirt, and I knew he was hit hard…everything kicked in after that. I was a nervous wreck getting out of the stand. Forgot half my stuff up there. Luckily, he only made it just inside the woods. I was super happy to not have a long tracking job. But, that is why we do it. If that feeling ever goes away, I’ll stop hunting them. Shoot…I watched a spike at my place today, and he still had me a little excited. Of course, he is still running around, but he will be a nice buck in a couple years. All-in-all, I’m still a little awe struck everytime I look at this rascals picture. This one and the tall 8 I killed this season are both going over the fire place with the big one from last season. I spent a lot of years overseas dreaming of doing this. Now, it is happening. I’m so glad to be home!!!

saw a monster tonight. Of course, I was set up to watch the food plot and he came out 180 degrees away. I needed 30 more seconds to get crosshairs on him.
He came out at 6:40 PM
Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.
Keep after him in the next two weeks. He will make a mistake. Now is the time to really start hunting. The bucks are love drunk right now.

Finally saw a few deer. Hunted the ground blind by large food plot. Doe went by at 6. At 6:05 a 6 pointer followed.
20 minutes later a buck heads opposite way. Probably same 6 pointer. Then at 6:40 a 10 pointer goes from r to L . 5 minutes later he comes back. Never stopped anytime.
The 10 pt responded to my doe bleat.
Maybe tomorrow he will stop long enough for an ethical shot.

Keep after him. He will make a mistake. If he is moving, just yell at him. He will stop and look. Then bust his A$$. Deer can’t do two things at the same time. Making a noise to stop them works 99 out of 100 times. The only time it don’t work is when the buck is already spooked or he is so love drunk he don’t even care.

The taxidermist is almost done with “Brow Tines.” Left turn in upright aggressive posture with his ears back. he had a lot of fighting damage on his ears, so that was the only way to hide it.
