Buck island behind Hilton head

There are no wake signs coming both ways through the channel running behind Hilton head between buck island. Every boat I see coming through that channel is full speed ahead. Are these state signs? They’re not on a dock but an actual piling at the ends of the channel. Just curious as I never see anyone at idle speed coming through there. Also what about the long no wake zone running from the palmetto bay land towards buck island behind Spanish wells. I see people on plane in there too. What gives? Do the locals know something I don’t?

I live on Broad Creek and run the area a lot. You can run wide open behind Buck Island until l you get to first dock on Brams Point heading towards Palmetto Bay. This area is watched closely by the sherriff’s boat often and DNR on weekends and holidays. Boats run fast occasionally, but the fine is steep.

No wake from the mouth of Broad Creek to the Cross-Island bridge. From the bridge to Shelter Cove is a little misleading - from 100 yards past the bridge to Broad Creek Marina is open, rest of the creek is up to interpretation - best to take it easy.
I rarely see ppl blowing the creek, besides the occasional visitor w/ out of state registration or rental boats.
As rpatterson said, it’s regularly patrolled by both DNR & BCSO. Plan your trip accordingly & don’t blow the creek.
